Yep, it's back to my old friend hexedit.app, I'm afraid. Interesting side note, at least to me. In doing this, I had to come up with algorithm to calculate the required image size. I saw one in the SDK, and thinking that my algorithm might be the source of the problem, tried that one. Mine came up with the exact same result that copying the desktop into the clipboard, pasting it in Paint, and saving it as a 24 bpp did. When I tried the SDK one, not only was the image size larger, but I got the same result (left side on the right) as I had with mine.:-( I'm wondering if 24 bpps are always bottom up.

Side note 2. I've found plenty of use for the new VFP 6.0 functions filetostr() and strtofile() doing this.
