I'm using VFP 6.0 and the included framework for an application. In this application, for only one paticular form, I need to assign each record added to the table an incremental number (a response number). The form uses the standard navigation toolbar which has an add button. How would I design the application to assign the next response number to the next record added.

Is there any way to use the table trigger to do this?

Should I modify the add botton on the tool bar? To check what form is active and if this paticular form is active then get the next response number from a control file? If I use that approach how would I check to see what form is active?
