>>How can I put VFP6 app and data it uses on a CD-ROM and run it from the CD? I remember some discussions about this months back but I didn't really follow it.

I said sure (looking for the razor to slash my wrists), but after some thought I figured the main program and temp file could be on the lap top, and the data path would point to the CD. After some days of coding and modifying the install program, I got it to work. My boss was happy and the laptop users were very happy. It was not too much later he came back to me and said 'could we have the data on a local drive or the CD or on the network if they are connected to our network?'. Well here we go again.....

Thanks Bret for sharing your experience in this "uncharted" territory for most of us. Yes of course it seems that with Windows, you can't simply run a program anymore w/o setting it up first. What with all those dependent files that needs to be installed in \Windows\System directory, etc. I guess I was just asking for something I knew wasn't possible anymore. Thanks again.
It's "my" world. You're just living in it.
