I had to check to make sure it wasn't the April fool's issue, but no: It appears that VFP is on the cover of the upcoming issue of Microsoft Internet (formerly Interactive) Developer (MIND) magazine. Check out http://www.microsoft.com/mind for a preview of the cover story, an overview of VFP 6's capabilities by Tom Spitzer and John Glendening.

Here's my favorite understatement in the article: "queries against large databases in Visual FoxPro can perform as fast or faster than against similar-sized SQL Server databases on the same platform." (I know Rick Strahl will vouch for that.) I'm astounded that a Microsoft publication would let that tidbit be published. Then again, I'm astounded that MIND even acknowledged the existence of VFP. After all, this is the same mag that had as its October Visual Studio cover story "Choosing the Right Tool for Your Web App!"--needless to say, not even a *mention* of VFP amid the extensive discussion of VB, VI, VC++ and VJ++ (another mag, I think it was Backoffice, noted that VFP had been included in VS "for completeness"--that was its entire coverage!).

Comments, anyone?
