We always have to balance costs and benefits. I have had clients that would rather pay labor costs for service and no guarantee of success instead of replacement of the malfunctioning part. Even over my recommendations. Some companies have greater leeway for labor expenses than with capital expenses. I is horribly inefficient, but accounting rules and tax laws can be very arbitrary.
