>No, I have the LS120 as the Master ,and my CD (40x) as a Slave on the secondary IDE port. My hard drive is the only thing on the primary IDE port. I think this is slowing down my CD, though. My hardrive and CD are type 4, and the LS120 is type 2. I should probably have both the type 4 devices on the same IDE port, but it used to be that would cause "compatiblity-mode" access on the hard drive. But since they are now both type 4, would that still be true?

I wouldn't think so (ie. they will both operate as ATA mode 4)...I think the only slow down you would experience is if you were doing something that required the hard drive and CD drive in the same operation...I know some movie CDs actually decompress onto the hard drive and the movies are displayed from the temporary files on the hard drive. If you have the CD drive and the hard drive on the same controller, the movie is choppy.

I am just curious, what CD drive are you using?

Take care,
Joe
