>Thanks, Ed but the print problems I'm referring to only occurs on Windows only type printers. The same program runs fine with older printers. The problems began after my cutomers upgraded to Win95 and started to buy Windows printers!

I'm not familiar with Windows-only printers. Are these printers that won't accept straight text, or printers whose print engine in part relies on the smarts of the PC to handle it - IOW, the Windows driver is an essential part of the printer's internal engine? A make and model might help here.

I had some problems with PostScript printers that used the PC as a part of the PostScript engine at one point with DOS jobs - forcing DOS jobs through the Windows Spooler allowed direct submission of text to the printer, but there were some horrendous delays in printing, as each spool file was converted on the fly to a partially-processed EPS file. It seemed to be a horrible price to pay for very little savings in hardware cost for the printer. if nothing else, the PC would be impacted performance-wise for every print job, from a WinApp or DOS.

>But I also experienced serious delays printing to my good old HPII Laserjet after I upgraded to Win95. Sometimes the printout could be delayed for several minutes before the vere finally printed.
