There was, but the wrapper .DLL from the article provided only a very incomplete access to the API. George's wrapper and the Wscript.Shell object provide access to more of the API, and additional functionality to get at the Windows Special Folders (like the current Desktop, or under NT, the AllUsers Start menu and Desktop as well via the wrapper and/or object.
