David, you should also look at API_RUN. I have found
this to be a great utility for zipping and unzipping
files under NT 4.0. API_RUN will allow you to better
control DOS calls and make VFP wait until it is complete.

I was working with 100 MB files and control would
return back to VFP due to multi-threading.
