Good points, and I'll throw a twist at this thread (with a question): Are there any xBase languages on LINUX now? If not, I can see a VFP-act-alike being possible via the following:

1. A kernel interpreter.
2. XWindows controls utilization routines to integrate with kernel.

This would *NOT* be VFP but it would be a way to get a LINUX-based clone going.
