If there's a problem with the video card, it has to do withg the behavior of the driver, not the type of interface the card has to the PC. If you're using the card on a machine running an early version of Win95 (prior to the release of Intel's driver for AGP, which shipped around the time that OSR2 version 2.1 came out) you'll be opening up a whole new can of worms putting in an AGP card, unless the installation software for the video driver is written to check for the generic AGP interface driver, and adds it if it is not found.

If you're concerned about the video driver, I'd make certain to select a card from a vendor with a good repuation for delivering reliable drivers - in my book, that translates to Matrox, STB, or the older Diamond and ATI cards that have had a chance to work out the kinks in the drivers. Cards with lots of extra features for game support, especially based on the newest, hottest chipsets, offer the greatest chaleenge for driver writers, and are the least well tested drivers. My personal picks for stability are the Matrox Millenium, Mystique, G100 and G200 cards; Matrox does a great job with their drivers. STB is a close second. Both ATI and Diamond have great hardware, bit their new cards, with lots of 3D acceleration and tons of added features like video capture, MPEG decoding and the like, add complexity to getting a good, solid driver.

I avoid the low-end video cards with a fervor; the few extra dollars for a good, ane-brand card buys you a great deal, if not in extra performance, at least in support.
