Rex,
This answer is going to be a big it depends. You can control how many lines print on a page by using the rulers in the report designer. If your header is
1", your detail band is set at 1" and your footer is set at 1" you will get 9 detail records on a single 11" piece of paper. (This will depend greatly on whether your printer can print on the complete 11")

Where this gets complicated is when you use group bands. This introduces a little unpredictability into your report. You may eliminate this problem by specifying print group headers on each page.
