I was just looking at the chapter on views in the VFP developer's guide last night (Yes, I have no life!) and ran across this interesting piece of info..

'In some more complex situations, the default update settings may not provide updates for a view you create through language...'

This is in chapter 8. It goes on to say you can specify properties such as UpdateType, WhereType, etc. with DBGETPROP().

They don't explain exactly what they mean by 'complex situations' but what I get out of this section is it's best to explicitly set your properties and don't leave anything to chance. That's what I do anyway.
