Drop another Textbox into the Grid column and set Column.Sparse to .T. With this new Textbox, format it however you want for data entry. The existing textbox can be formatted DTOS and the new Textbox will onlyh be active when a specific cell receives focus for input.

However one of the constraints I am under is that the active index needs to be a character based index. If I'm using a date for example the index must covert to character (DTOC, DTOS).
