Guys,
Hi,
"
>>>Also, rather that using AFIELDS, you could
>>>SELECT * FROM tablename INTO CURSOR cursorname NOFILTER
>>>to get a copy of your original table for reporting."
This works fine but as someone pointed out it will bring all records of the
existing table into a cursor
>>
>>You raise an interesting point here Mark. That sure is a way to create a cursor based on an existing structure. The cursor will contain every record in the original dataset. I often want an empty cursor.
True.
Another limitation that we have here is that whatever cursor we create from a SELECT statement will be read only which in my case wouldn't work, since I need to append an extra field for my reporting purposes (a memo field).
>>Does anyone know a fast one liner for creating an empty cursor based on an existing structure?
To add to this I'd say that should be updateable and modifiable as well whith such commands as ALTER TABLE and the rest
Thanks,
Gil
