>Hello,
>I've been doing VFP application development for this client and they think I'm the world's greatest consultant. They have just given me the responsibilty to manage and update their existing web site. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I've never really done that before (we all know how that goes...). I've "messed" around in this area (developing personal web pages with Frontpage, etc), this is not really my area of expertise. I have a "newbie" question which I cannot ask the client and hope to get some help here to avoid this embarrassing dilemma. Here it is:
>What do I have to know (other than the URL),to get to the client's webpage so that I can make modifications? Obviously, if I call up their existing site, I can view the source code but can't modify it. Is it just a question of having access to their server, or is it more complicated than that? (They also used MS FrontPage).

What I do is have a *mirror* web site on one of my PCs. Do my design on that and check the links work ok etc. Then use FTP to transfer to the Web Site. I'm sure that managing a full-blown web site shouldn't be that simple but you never know... We also have an intranet site at work which works on the same basis (except I can use explorer to transfer files).
