Just adding something to Mark's answer

If you want to 'manipulate' the fieldorder for your forms, you have to use some other functions like AFIELDS().
I have an application that uses fieldnames for labels and I wanted to reorder the fields in order to get it right on my forms, popups, lists and so on. Using AFIELDS() to get the fieldnames and storing them in another array, adding a sortnumber in the new array, resorting them and the using my new array for the forms, popups and lists solved my problem.
