I'm getting the following results when using the grouping scheme that I have described:

What I would like to get is the following:

A
-----1
-----2
---------3
---------4
---------5

The numbers that I'm using might cause more confusion than intended. If that's the case, let me know and I can devise a new mnemonic scheme.
