Hi,

If my research about this is correct, there are 2 major stategies to access MSAccess .MDB databases: You can ole MSAccess and let it do the work, or you can use ODBC and use a Client/Server approach via remote views or sql pass through.

I've used each alternative and am having trouble deciding which one is the best for me. Criteria for choice are:

1. Who wants to learn the idiosynchracies of MS Access, we have all we need in Foxpro.
2. ODBC has to be installed on each machine if you want to use it.
3. Perfomance wise, I guess the C/S alternative will be more effective.
4. To use the ole MS Access, you need Access on each machine.

You can obviously combine both techniques. For queries, nothing beats remote views.

The problem seems to be updating and appending new records. I'm specifically struggling with an auto incremental access table. Via ODBC I cannot seem to append to that table. Is that me, ODBC, VFP or Access (in no particular order).

Thanks for helping me out.

Marc
