First of all, I would like to thank Jim Booth for putting together a summation of N-Tier. It certainly makes things clearer. Sometimes it's difficult to get an understanding of a concept from a thread. With many differing opinions and many different posts, getting an accurate view can be very time consuming.

There are still things that are unclear to me. When originally I had heard that it is possible that VFP might be tailored for a middle tier in a 3 tier solution, I must admit I didn't really understand what that meant. One of the main advantages of VFP is its data engine. True, If your using VFP for the middle tier as a Business Object to create metadata designs, you are using the data engine. First of all, though what is a metadata design. Secondly, Isn't VFP faster at data retrieval than Sequel server as a back end ( third tier)?

As I said, it is still not clear to me. Hopefully somebody will be able to help me.
