>Using VFP 6. I have 2 separate apps, one for personnel and another for travel. Each app has its own directory location and DBC. I created an ODBC DSN for the travel app to access the Personnel DBC.

If anyone is running the Personnel app, I get an error message in the Travel app when it tries to open the remote view -- Invalid or Missing memo file [Staff.fpt]. Granted the actual Staff table does have a memo field, but this field is not included in the remote view and I deselected the advanced view option to retrieve memo fields, etc.

Answer: Both databases are on a Novell 4.11 server. I granted only Read access to the files which, in general works, works until a second user tries to open the view. I added FileScan to the access rights, and that made it work under all conditions. Still baffled as to why this is. Now, the users are able to copy the files (with the Read only, they could not) so I have to look at encryption to prevent unauthorized prying.
