Clarification requested
Jim,
Some time back I pointed out to someone (Colin M., I think) that there was an oddity in TableUpdate (in the documentation, at least) in that buffering was not required when a validation rule was in effect. The following was cited from VFP documentation:
" However, TABLEUPDATE( ) can still commit changes to a table or cursor that has validation rules. Use CURSORSETPROP( ) to enable or disable row and table buffering. "
You responded that it was a documentation error and I left it at that.
Now, as I read your (and Sawyer's) book, on page 69, the last point on the page states: " Code executed by a rule or trigger allows use of the OLDVAL() and GETFLDSTATE() functions but doesn't require buffering to be in effect. ".
Since I interpret the latter as being the equivalent of the former, are we now faced with a second documentation error or is the case, in fact, true?
Thanks in advance,
Jim N
