All windows apps do this during a computationally intensive process, unless they are specifically designed to respond to windows events in a different thread.

There should be a way to change the title which appears next to the task name in the Task manager. Something "VFP (busy now, so - ", and they'll see "VFP (busy now, so - [Not Responding]". I think it's enough to put a thing like that into main form's caption (or _screen.caption).
