The most notorious problem I know of in when you are using IPX. A client using IPX as a network protocol always seems to run really slow vs. SQL server.

I run my networks with just TCP/IP and NetBeui for this reason, but I know that is not always an option.

You could try also try screwing with your SQL server setup to use IP instead of Named Pipes. I've added IP transport but never removed Named Pipes so I'm not sure what to tell you about that.

If this isn't the issue please post again.

>We have several machines on Windows 95 and 98 and NT 4.0. On some of the machines the connection speed is several times slower than others. We have switched connections to hubs to make sure the hub is not at fault. We have a feeling that it has something to do with the Windows network setup. Has anyone encountered this?? Any solution?
