Title:
Illegal Operation on Pentium II 350Mz PC
I am trying to contact Foxpro User Groups because of a problem we have had since we started getting Pentium II 350Mz PC into the company. Can you please help?
We have recently purchased 3 Pentium II 350Mz machines from three different vendors. Whether they are running Win95 or Win 98 we get an "illegal operation" error when we launch a Foxpro application . This message appears to be erroneous because the program runs subsequently with no apparent problems. We have this problem on Foxpro V2.6 (for Windows) (Novell 4.10 server based application) and (Visual) Foxpro 3.0 (in this case a stand alone program where the PC is not connected to any network). The same programs run without error on all other PC's we have 3.1 through Win95 and on 486's through to Pentium II 300Mz. The detail of the message is :
"Foxprow caused a divide error in module FOXW2600.ESL at 0001:0000flc9".
I can't see how this could possibly be a software problem, rather it is a hardware incompatibility with the program. Since Foxpro is very commonly used in the USA in particular, there must be thousands of Foxpro users who have bought these 350Mz Pentium II's and surely someone would have reported this problem to Microsoft. Can you please try to find out if this has in fact ever been reported by any Users in your group or any other group you have contacts with?
Thanks
