What version of Win95? There are some known problems with shared printing, which can be fixed by patches available from Microsoft. Try Windows Update for All Platforms

An ECP port is a parallel port with hardware that allows for better performance and printer control. It also requires a fully-compliant printer cable, a printer than can get along with an ECP port, and will glom an IRQ (interrupt) and DMA channel that can't be shared with other devices. If your system has the resources, and your printer can use it, the ECP style print port offers both performance and capability advantages.

Do the print jobs make it to the spooler? (you can see jobs spooled and waiting by opening the printer from the Printers dialog.) It may be that the queue is set as held.

You might also have a problem with a printer cable, especailly if it's an older cable that might not have all 25 printer port signals carried properly. A new, IEEE compliant printer cable might help in this case.
