>Thanks, Ed. I normally use svrmgr.exe to view these type of things, but I had just ran across this winfile.exe tip, and thought it might be useful, too. Do you know how long NT continues to say a file is opened by a user, even after they log out? Files show up in svrmgr.exe for quite awhile even after a user has logged off. (NT4, SP3)

It could be as long as the time to update the Browse List at the Master Browser and propagate it to the PDC if the PDC isn't working in that role; a long time if a station drops out of the network abruptly at least. As I recall, the interval can get up over 10 minutes in some cases, but it's been a while since I looked at it.
