Not sure I got the essence of your question, but you might try to set the recordsource of your grid to the empty string ("") during the packing and reassign it when that's done to the cursor.

I restore the grid again using code to restore the recordsource and controlsource. This gets the grid back but any code I have in the methods to the text fields in the grid is not restored.
