You HAVE seen the combo at the top of the upper screen that divides your messages by date if there are more than 200 unread and they cover more than one date?

Also, click the "Recover last session" check box before you log in, then look at what's available before using the 'yellow note' icon to refresh just your new messages. Before Michel added this checkbox unread messages would disappear everytime you lost your connection, but now you can always pick up where you left off.
