My computer wouldn't boot this weekend, so I reinstalled Windows98 from scratch. It was inconvenient and all, but everything works much faster. A happy side effect seems to be that I never get the dreaded Watcom 386 error anymore. I've tried loading up as many applications as I could find (over 10) including Lotus Organizer 97 (a great program but a serious resource hog), then started up FoxPro 2.6 / Windows and - no problem.

This isn't scientific, but if I were a betting man I'd say that the new Client 32, version 3.02, solved the problem. I don't know if it has to be a clean install or not, but it's worth a try!
