I;d suggest going to Microsoft's MSDN OnLine and looking up the MSComm control topic; there's sample code in VB there demonstarting the manipulation of a serial port with MSComm under the Example subtopic. The sample translates quite well into VFP. I beleive there are also examples of its use here on UT in the Files section.
