I know that if there are any stored procedures or triggers (including those generated by the relational integrity builder) that you will not be able to share the DBC across versions. This is because the DBC stores both Source and Object code and each version requires object code compiled with that version. If you don't have SPs or triggers you may be able to do it, I haven't tried it.
