I asked peerDirect (www.peerdirect.com) about enabling their replication software to work with VFP - I asked them if I could post their reply here and they didn't object so, if nobody minds... they seem reasonably positive if they get enough enquiries.

Robert: Thank you for your interest in PeerDirect.

You are correct in that PeerDirect currently supports 8 different
databases, but Visual FoxPro isn't one of them.

PeerDirect is in fact an ODBC replication system. We connect to each
database via ODBC and all inserts/updates/deletes are
handled through ODBC. We have an ODBC driver for VFP and we know we
can support it......problem is that each database
speaks a unique SQL dialect and we need to perform extensive
compatibility tests with each new database before we certify support
for them.

We get several requests for VFP support, but right now, we don't have it in our short term development plans. We would require
a solid business case (read $$$) in order to bump the priority up. If you have any questions, please get back to me.

Robert: No objections from us [to posting on UT]. If we see enough interest, it might help us justify a decision to accelerate support for it. From what I've seen, Microsoft does not have any plans to add this functionality to VFP. PeerDirect offers VFP developers an ideal solution for distributed applications.
