>We have a VFP 5.0 app that runs on NT, but is packaged also for a demo to be run on Win9x (or even NT). I'm currently using the VFP Setup Wizard. I need to launch the demo app (same exe) with 2 different parameter settings. So, I need to place 2 separate shortcuts in the start\programs menu. The demo also needs to set the windows/dos path (actually add to the PATH statement already there if one exists).

I've figured out how to use the InstallShield for Visual C++ that comes free with the Visual Studio (it may be available in other ways - I don't know.) to distribute both my App AND the VFP 5 runtime package. The problem with the free version is that it does not have the ability to spawn a task to do something at the end of the install, so you can't do what you want - use the VFP setup for the runtime, and IS for your app - in one step. You can do it, but the user would have to do the two installs. Not nice. I've been working on a document that describes what I did to get IS (the free version, NOT Express) to handle the run-time library. It seems to work fine for me for both NT and 95.

Send me an E-mail, and I'll mail you the doc.
