Title:
Ethernet Adaptor IP address won't release
I am setting up my new Dell Computer which came with Windows 98 preinstalled with the cable modem that was on my old computer. I called my cable provider to give them the new adapter address. I typed winipcfg in the run window to bring up the IP Configuration window to get the info. My cable provider then asked that I press the "Release All" button on that screen to release the IP Address which begins 169. Nothing happens when I press that button, no hourglass, no nothing. I was then told that that this is a Windows 98 problem for which I need a patch. I cannot track this down. Can someone out there shed some light on my dilemma?
