We have a Notes database of all our employees [maybe 1200 records max]. It took the remote view about 30 seconds to retrieve anything. This is a DB that is indexed [Notes style] on first name, last name, mail code, etc. Plus we could never prevent the drivers from opening a DOS window, and the connection was only maintained as long as we left the DOS window open. I could never get an answer from Lotus or our Notes gurus on how to resolve these problems.
Maybe the version you just got is a new release and they work better. I do not hold out much hope of improved performance, however. We have Win95 accessing the Notes 4.6 server which is an NT server via TCP/IP. Access to the same data on the Oracle side is near instantaneous.
