Recently, in separate FoxPro 2.6 and Visual FoxPro 5.0 apps, we have had problems with clients getting a "File Access denied" error in a network environment.

In both cases we ensured that no users were logged onto the database, then tried to open the table (and database in Visual) in EXCLUSIVE mode. We also received the "File Access denied" error. No other users were logged on, the Read/Write attributes for the table, index, and memo files in question were NOT Read Only, and after overwriting the files from a backup the error went away.

Does anyone have any insight as to how this can occur. These apps have been running at the client site for some time without any changes to the app or the tables.
