Well, enough time spent on this. I can not re-create the problem on the new drive copy of the system. Recompile or not everyting works.
I was moving a form level method to the class library, and I used the same name in both. This may have started the problem. Anyway, time to stop chasing phantom bugs, and get on with real work. Backup, Backup, Backup, it pays :)
