Did you switch to a new version of the Novell Client32 at the same time that this started to happen? I've seen messages from a couple of people reporting problems with the Novell Client recently.

Another possibility is that someone enabled NetWare's disk compression on the server, another item that has all kinds of bug reports associated with it.
