1)If the grid doesn't have columns, add them by changing the columncount to greater than 1.

2)Make the column that you would like to have the control in active (use the properties window)

3) Drop the control from the form controls toolbar onto the grid

Thats it.

If you want to remove the default textbox from the column, select it using the properities window, then click on the grid then press the delete key.
