No - you have to have the MSCOMM32.OCX (MS Communication Control Version 5.0 SP2 is what I'm using) installed on the system; the Version Independent ProgID is MSCOMMLib.MSComm, which is what is being instantiated by CREATEOBJ() here. No tickee, no washee...
