If I understand your question correctly, we have handled the issue as follows. We needed a screen to select from a list of 'open items' like uncleared checks for a bank account reconcilation. We deal entirely with views for all of our forms so, in this case, the view of the open checks had an additional logical field for the selection status. In the grid, we displayed that field as a checkbox. The user can select the items individually and/or, with a little more code, in groups using the standard windows key combinations. Once the selections are made, do whatever you want with the records in the view that have been marked as selected.
