>>But if you know how to make a multi-select listbox, is it important to use a grid to "simulate" it? You may have a very good reason (or several), but any time I hear "How can I use xxx to simulate yyy," my first thought is "Why not just use yyy?"

>One lousy thing with the multi-select listbox is that in many implementations one wrong click will deselect all the other selections. I haven't tried it in VFP, so I wouldn't know how it behaves, but from the places where I've seen it (take right pane of WExplorer for example), it's frustrating. OTOH, in order to pick the rows you want to select, one expects several ways to sort the rows, so the rows needed appear grouped, which is very easy to do with a grid, and impossible (or near to impossible, or I simply didn't try it) to do with a listbox.
Very good points. (You'll notice I apologized in a later reply for having said "why would you do that?")
