Neil,

The "Visual FoxPro 6.0 Programmer's Guide" is virtually identical the the "Visual FoxPro Developer's Guide" with the exception that there are some added pages at the end of the 6.0 book to communicate the new and revised features of VFP 6.0.

I know what you mean about those books not really helping things 'come together'.

If you've got the patience though, I would highly recommend (wish I had done so, but didn't) that you take the "gems" you come across in the "Programmer's Guide" and annotate the relevant Help entries.
For instance, you will come across approximately 4 lines at page 72 (either edition - see how similar they are!) which relates that RELEASE will *not* release an object from memory because a reference to the object exists. This is not mentioned at all in the Help, so a notation in Help's RELEASE could save your bacon some day.

Good luck with this

Jim N
