I think VFP is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I thought FoxPro was before it, and FoxBase before that. But other languages have their proper place. Almost all serve a good purpose (except dBaseIII+, < gd&r >). If you're doing a lot of scientific (or other statistical) number crunching, FORTRAN may very well be the best tool for the job.

I know the posts I'm responding to were "firmly TIC", but I worry about the tunnel vision of some of my Fox colleagues. Fox is the best database tool I've ever seen, but there is a reason there are other languages available for things other than database programming. And even reasons for things like Access. (It's for small, single-user apps with pretty screens, I think. ;)
