Try creating a VCX with the new name. Open the old VCX, the new VCX, and any VCX with classes which use any of the classes in the old VCX in separate Class Browsers. Move the classes from the old to the new. Having these VCXs open will update all references and everything should work fine.

Just make sure you back up the VCXs first (Just my disclaimer)
