I'm unaware of a book that deals with the API from strictly a VFP perspective. I wrote a FAQ for the UT Knowledge Base that list sources for find out more about it. API documentation is written in C++. Most of the samples that I've seen for using it with another language use VB (surprise!) as the language. Just a bit of knowledge about C can be very helpful in understanding the usage. For myself, VFP wasn't my first language (I'd worked in BASIC and Pascal, and picked up a smattering of C), so picking up the meanings of the syntax wasn't terribly difficult.
