Hi, Mark-
Maybe I've missed something about what you're doing but here's two suggestions.
1. For constant height detail band, dbl-click on the detail band itself in the report designer and set the exact height you want.

2. The trick with vertical lines is to make sure they stop and start in the correct sections. From your description, it sounds like you want them to start in the page header and stretch to the page footer. Sometimes it takes a little fooling around, but I've had really great luck with doing very complicate reports in VFP.

FWIW, Crystal Reports is a wonderful tool, I understand, but most of the problems people post about the RD (IMHO) really are *just* learning curve.
