Besides the OLE automation capabilities of Outlook, it is a great tool for organizational forms (ie vacation requests, employee time sheets, purchase requests, etc). Outlook 97/98 hosts VBScript, so there is a lot of flexibility on customizing your forms. Outlook 2000 will host VBA. Ever heard about the paperless office? Outlook can get you there.

Have never used Lotus Notes though.
