I'm working on some formulas that use exponents and I know that the following syntax works, but I can't find any reference to it in the VFP documentation.

x=2
y=3
z = x**y correctly returns 8

Is this a backward compatible way of doing this? Does anyone have a better way to handle exponents in expressions?
